A comparison and analysis of relationships in John Miltons Paradise Lost, Mary Shelleys Frankenstein, and Joseph Conrads Heart of Darkness. This paper examines three stories and compares the different relationships existing between John Miltons God and Satan from Paradise Lost, Mary Shelleys Frankenstein and his monster, and Joseph Conrads Marlow and Kurtz from Heart of Darkness. The paper shows how the reader is able to compare the concept of having a God complex versus having knowledge two of the three books do not mention a God and the third one does thus making it easier to separate them out and compare the underlying theme. In each of these stories the clear cut examples of trying to play God are easy to locate because the story is not complicated with a real God, however in Paradise lost this is not the case. In Paradise lost the events are totally out of context but because there is a God based theme to the story it almost sits in judgment of the other two.
