Character And Role Quote And Inspector Of Meursault

Character and Role Quote and Scene Relation to Meursault Thomas Pà ©rez is one of the people living in the old folks’ home with Maman. He forms a close relationship with her (sometimes referred to as Maman’s fiancà ©) and is distraught when she dies. â€Å"Several other images from that day have stuck in my mind: for instance, Pà ©rez’s face when he caught up with us for the last time, just outside the village. Big tears of frustration and exhaustion were streaming down his cheeks. But because of all the wrinkles, they weren’t dripping off. They spread out and ran together again, leaving a watery film om his ruined face† (Camus 17-18). This is part of Meursault’s description of Maman’s funeral procession. It shows how grief-stricken Pà ©rez is and serves to highlight the close emotional relationship he had with Maman. Thomas Pà ©rez is often seen as a foil to Meursault’s stoicism because of the nature of his close relationship with Maman. The director of the old folks’ home called the two â€Å"inseperable,† and painting a picture of how the two genuinely enjoyed each other’s presence. Because Pà ©rez was able to form healthy emotional relationships, he is a foil to Meursault’s inability to do so. Marie Cardona used to work in Meursault’s office, and they had some sort of history together. As the plot progresses, the two grow closer and she asks to marry him. She tries to offer Meursault support and consolation throughout her trial. â€Å"That evening Marie came by to see me and asked me if I wanted

Me and my father always had our separate ways in school. Every time I would show him my report card; hed either scold me or punish me. It was around the 2nd quarter of junior year when my father received my report card; and for once he didnt yell. He simply said son I need to have a word with you about this. You could imagine what was running in my head, oh no here it comes here it comes. Instead, rather than raising his voice, he said son, I know you could do better. College isnt a joke. You have to learn to put the time and effort into studying. I only want you to do better than I did. My father was a cop for twenty years, and he never wanted us to be like him. In my mind, it was the only thing that I needed to hear. Relationships free essay sample

A comparison and analysis of relationships in John Miltons Paradise Lost, Mary Shelleys Frankenstein, and Joseph Conrads Heart of Darkness. This paper examines three stories and compares the different relationships existing between John Miltons God and Satan from Paradise Lost, Mary Shelleys Frankenstein and his monster, and Joseph Conrads Marlow and Kurtz from Heart of Darkness. The paper shows how the reader is able to compare the concept of having a God complex versus having knowledge two of the three books do not mention a God and the third one does thus making it easier to separate them out and compare the underlying theme. Frankenstein himself has a bit of a God complex when he creates the monster and believes he will be able to control him. When he created the monster he had visions of being able to control the monsters every move and action. In each of these stories the clear cut examples of trying to play God are easy to locate because the story is not complicated with a real God, however in Paradise lost this is not the case. In Paradise lost the events are totally out of context but because there is a God based theme to the story it almost sits in judgment of the other two.
